STYE AND CHALAZION TREATMENT

Spontaneous healing: Stye does not always require treatment and will often disappear on its own within about 2 weeks.
Medical treatment: If Stye does not disappear after 2 weeks, it can be treated with antibiotic eye drops or ointment.
Surgical removal: If Stye does not heal with medication, it may develop into Chalazion that needs to be surgically removed.

The surgery is safe and complications are very rare.

HOW LONG DOES A STYE LAST?

Stye typically lasts between 7 and 10 days, but it can take longer if left untreated. With warm compresses and good hygiene it can heal faster, but if Stye doesn’t go away or becomes very painful, you may need to seek medical attention.

HOW DO YOU GET RID OF A STYE QUICKLY?

At an ophthalmologist’s office, Stye can be removed quickly through a simple procedure where the doctor can drain the pus from Stye. This is done under sterile conditions and can provide quick relief. If the barley grain is large or has been there for a long time, the doctor may also prescribe antibiotic drops or ointments to prevent infection.

WHAT DO YOU DO ABOUT A STYE IN THE EYE?

For Stye (hordeolum), you can often relieve the symptoms by applying a warm compress to the affected eye several times a day. This can help open the blockage and promote healing.
