We want to change that.
Copenhagen Eye Institute believes that preventable blindness requires action. Our mission is to make highly specialized eye care accessible to those who need it, regardless of where they live or who they are.
Agility over bureaucracy, empowerment over charity
We combine donations from international health organizations and private actors with the technical expertise of renowned ophthalmologists. This enables us to implement eye care projects that really make a difference in the lives of people in vulnerable communities. We act in a financially responsible way, carefully select where we implement our projects and always work to build sustainable processes wherever we go.
We treat patients, educate local doctors, make a plan, and off we go.
We send eye care teams to areas where eye care is underdeveloped. We identify the needs, perform surgical treatments on patients and train local doctors to perform the treatments independently. Once the project is sustainable, we move on to another location where we can make an even bigger difference.

Amnitrans EyeBank Rotterdam (part of NIIOS) is a world-renowned Dutch non-profit institute. AER specializes in receiving, preserving, preparing and distributing surgically pre-treated corneal donor tissue for advanced surgical techniques. They have supported our project from the beginning and AER is a crucial partner in making our vision a reality.
