Call +45 39 16 10 12 to book, reschedule, or cancel an appointment, or if you have any questions. Outside of phone hours, you can leave a message on the answering machine to cancel.

Use Lægevejen.dk if you require encrypted communication with the clinic, or if you want to renew a prescription we have issued.
Emergency
If you experience sudden vision loss or a red, painful eye, call us during phone hours. Outside of phone hours, call the medical helpline 1813 or contact the emergency room (skadestuen).

Waiting time
We have an agreement with the region, allowing you to be examined using your yellow health insurance card. This scheme has a limited number of appointments, and the waiting time for non-acute patients is currently approximately 6 months.

Can’t wait?
With self-payment, you can often get an appointment the same week. An ophthalmologist consultation costs DKK 1,600, and many health insurance plans cover it.

Javier Cabrerizo
Ophthalmic Surgeon Javier Cabrerizo, MD, PhD, FEBO
Javier has been a specialist in ophthalmology since 2014 and previously served as a senior consultant at Rigshospitalet in Glostrup and as a clinical associate professor at the University of Copenhagen. He has performed more than 10,000 complex surgeries, including over 5,000 corneal transplants, and has authored more than 30 scientific articles.

Cancellation and no-show policy
You can reschedule or cancel your appointment up to 24 hours in advance. For later cancellations or no-shows, we charge a fee of DKK 300.
When an appointment goes unused, it could have gone to another patient on the waiting list. The fee helps us utilize public appointments so that as many people as possible can receive care.

Parking space
We do not have our own parking spaces. The nearest parking garage is Q-Park Illum at Gammel Mønt.

Questions and Answers
Do I need a referral?
No. You can see an ophthalmologist without a referral using your yellow health insurance card. Call 39 16 10 12 to schedule an appointment.
Does it cost anything?
No. The consultation is covered by public health insurance if you have the yellow health insurance card. If you do not show up or cancel less than 24 hours in advance, we will charge a fee of 300 kr.
How long is the waiting time?
The wait time for non-urgent patients is currently about 6 months. On sundhed.dk, you can find other ophthalmologists who participate in the national health insurance system and check their wait times.
Can I book an appointment online or by email?
No. According to regional regulations, public patients can only schedule appointments by calling 39 16 10 12. If you would like to communicate securely or renew a prescription we have issued, please use Lægevejen.dk.
What should I do if it's an emergency?
If you experience sudden vision loss or have a red, painful eye, please call us during office hours at 39 16 10 12. Outside of office hours, call the emergency hotline at 1813 or go to the emergency room.
