Short waiting times
With self-payment, you can often get an appointment the same week. On Tuesdays, we are open until 19.00.
Health insurance
Many private health insurance plans provide full or partial coverage. Check your coverage prior to your visit. Read more Read more about it
Cancellation
Cancel at least 24 hours in advance. For later cancellations or no-shows, a fee of DKK 300 will be charged.

How much does an appointment with an eye doctor cost?
An eye exam costs 1,600 DKK for adults and children over 10 years old – and 1,800 DKK for children under 10 years old. The price includes all the tests your eyes need. Pre-operative evaluations for laser eye surgery, lens replacement, and cataract surgery are free.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can see an ophthalmologist without a referral, whether or not you have a copay. If you have a copay, you can book an appointment online 24/7 or by calling 25 64 64 64. If you do not have a copay, please call our public clinic at 39 16 10 12.
Can I get an appointment through public coverage (without self-payment)?
Yes. Without a copay, the consultation is covered by public health insurance. You can schedule an appointment at our public clinic by calling 39 16 10 12 on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. The wait time is typically longer than when paying out of pocket.
Can I use my health insurance?
Many private health insurance plans cover an eye doctor’s visit in full or in part. Contact your insurance company before your visit to confirm your coverage. Some companies require pre-authorization or a claim number.
Which appointment type should I choose?
- Eye Doctor Appointment: If you’re experiencing eye problems or would like a checkup. Children under 10 have their own appointment times.
- Free pre-examination: if you’re considering getting rid of your glasses. Choose laser eye surgery if you’re typically under 45, and lens replacement if you’re over 45. If you have cataracts, choose the preliminary examination for cataract surgery.

How do I reschedule or cancel my appointment?
If you booked online, you can cancel your appointment and schedule a new one yourself using the link in your confirmation email. If you did not book online, please call us at 25 64 64 64 or contact us via the contact form.
