We sat down with the<\/span> ophthalmologist Javier Cabrerizo<\/span><\/a> for a chat about technology, passion and why he believes it’s crucial to stay ahead of the curve. Both as a doctor and clinic. <\/span><\/p>

Javier has been a Chief eye doctor and surgeon at the Department of Ophthalmology at Rigshospitalet in Glostrup for a number of years. He is also specially trained in advanced corneal transplants in the Netherlands, and he helped bring the transplant method to Denmark. <\/span>

<\/span>Today he is the owner of Copenhagen Eye Institute<\/a><\/span>where he and his team meet patients every day with one common mission. Interviewer:<\/strong> Javier, I know that you emphasize an innovative approach to your profession. Why is that so important? <\/p>

Javier:<\/strong> I have a strong focus on making sure the clinic is 100% up to date in eye care so that we can offer the most optimal and at the same time the most gentle treatment for the patient.<\/p>

Interviewer:<\/strong> Why is it so important, if you have to go into detail?<\/p>

Javier:<\/strong> Partly because medical technology is constantly evolving – becoming both more advanced and gentler. For example, just a few years ago, corneal transplants<\/span><\/a> involved sutures in the eye to secure the new cornea in place. Today, with the new technology I\u2019m specially trained in – which I learned in the Netherlands – we can \u201cadhere\u201d the cornea using a special gas, thereby avoiding the need for stitches. So the surgery has become much less uncomfortable for the patient.In addition, we offer a range of high-quality lenses, allowing us to achieve optimal vision with great precision, for example, if a patient is undergoing surgery for cataracts<\/span><\/a>. <\/p>

Interviewer:<\/strong> But staying ahead of the curve, isn’t that difficult in a busy practice?<\/p>

Javier:<\/strong> Yes, that’s right. It has to be planned well. But no matter how busy I am, I simply prioritize educating myself on the latest technologies and thus more gentle treatment options. It is my passion to offer the best professional and most relevant solution for the patient.<\/p>

Interviewer:<\/strong> In addition to training, you also need some equipment that is quite advanced?<\/p>

Javier: That’s correct! I focus on the very best technology from the most reputable companies, including those from Switzerland.
